S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky

clear_sky.jpgValve announced today that S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky, the prequel to the famous to the survival FPS S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, will be released exclusively as a digital download on Steam before hitting retail outlets later this year.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky is set in 2011, one year prior to the events of the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game.

SAW Videogame Releasing October 2009

Set to release in October 2009, in conjunction with the next installment of the film series, SAW the videogame from Brash Entertainment will give fans of Jigsaw and these films a reason to live. Collaborating closely with Lions Gate and Twisted pictures, the game will have its own unique storyline, while answering questions left unanswered by the SAW films. In an effort to stay true to the movies, Brash is working closely with creators of the SAW franchise, Leigh Whannell and James Wan, ensuring the game pulls no punches, and delivers the horrifying suspense and disbelief that has floored fans worldwide. The SAW game is currently in development for next-gen platforms and will be built using the Unreal 3 game engine.

The SAW franchise, which has emerged as one of the most inventive and popular franchises in the horror genre, has grossed out audiences around the globe and grossed more than $500M worldwide, including selling over 15 million DVD’s.

Black Lion Studios announces SHADOW HARVEST

SHADOW HARVEST is set in the year 2025. The player takes control over two ISA agents (Myra Lee and Aron Alvarez) which are are deployed as elite black-ops agents on various current and future points of conflict around the globe to cooperatively complete covert operations. Both characters are very different from each other and also have very different special skills. To optimally achieve all mission goals, the player needs to combine Myra’s stealth skills, cleverness and athletic abilities with Aron’s blunt open battle approach.

GoldenEye For XBLA Confirmed And Canned

Good news for the N64 classic, GoldenEye has been confirmed for Xbox LIVE Arcade.

The bad news is that it has been delayed indefinitely, due to a licensing disagreement between Microsoft and Nintendo.

The game is almost finished with less than two months left in development. The XBLA port will be a faithful incarnation of the original N64 release with the addition of multiplayer support over Xbox LIVE.

Nintendo and Microsoft are disputing whether Nintendo should receive a onetime royalty fee or a continuing cut of the XBLA revenues.

Take Two Acquires Mafia 2 Developer

Illusion Softworks from main Central Europe grounded on the inhabitant, studio which plays compilation with operations in Brno and Prague, the Czech Republic. Illusion Softworks has approximately 200 employees and will join Take-Two’s 2K Games publishing label as its newest studio, 2K Czech.

Games Ruin Kids’ Brains

Children under seven should be kept away from videogames, a new study claimed.

Educational psychologist, Jane Healy, explained that “the rapid pace of computer games is only stimulating basic “fight or flight” sections of the brain rather than parts responsible for higher reasoning”. This, she concludes, makes their brains develop differently and can be linked to a rise in the diagnosis of attention-deficit disorder in children.

“If you watch kids on a computer, most of them are just hitting keys or moving the mouse as fast as they can. It really reminds me of rats running in a maze,” said Jane Healy.

Tomb Raider: Underworld
