GoldenEye For XBLA Confirmed And Canned

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

Good news for the N64 classic, GoldenEye has been confirmed for Xbox LIVE Arcade.

The bad news is that it has been delayed indefinitely, due to a licensing disagreement between Microsoft and Nintendo.

The game is almost finished with less than two months left in development. The XBLA port will be a faithful incarnation of the original N64 release with the addition of multiplayer support over Xbox LIVE.

Nintendo and Microsoft are disputing whether Nintendo should receive a onetime royalty fee or a continuing cut of the XBLA revenues.

Games Ruin Kids’ Brains

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

Children under seven should be kept away from videogames, a new study claimed.

Educational psychologist, Jane Healy, explained that “the rapid pace of computer games is only stimulating basic “fight or flight” sections of the brain rather than parts responsible for higher reasoning”. This, she concludes, makes their brains develop differently and can be linked to a rise in the diagnosis of attention-deficit disorder in children.

“If you watch kids on a computer, most of them are just hitting keys or moving the mouse as fast as they can. It really reminds me of rats running in a maze,” said Jane Healy.
